In May 2009 Yeovil based fibre optics specialists AVoptics Ltd successfully staged the first ever Fibre Optics in Harsh Environments Conference at RNAS Yeovilton.

In recent years fibre optics have seen substantial growth within the harsh environment market sector, with European industry often leading the way. The Fibre Optics in Harsh Environments Conference is designed to ensure industries in this market sector stay up-to-date with current practices and recent developments in the market place.
